… The next day on Monday, May 18th, 2014, Antonio Plaza and I (University of Extremadura – Spain) were visiting the campus and the department, which is very close to our hotel (Radisson Blu, Saga Hotel) from Jón Atli Benediktsson. He is currently Pro Rector for Academic Affairs and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Iceland. After lunch we take a coffee in the Main Building (Rectoral Building) of the University of Iceland (Háskóli Íslands) with the rest of the components of the Lab in the Department:
An old map of Iceland in the Main Building as it was before Remote Sensing:
Sergio’s picture before his presentation. Thanks to an an Agreement between the University of Extremadura and the University of Iceland (háskóli Islands), Sergio was able to present his Ph.D. in Spain and also in Iceland in order to obtain a double degree. For this reason, Sergio officially presented his Ph.D. for the second time, on this occasion in Reykjavik (Iceland).
Professor Dr. Helgi Thorbergsson carried out the previous introduction to the Sergio’s presentation, who is Interim Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Sergio during his presentation:
Everything was well kept, elegant and formal. We really liked how they looked after and attentions received 🙂
In the same Rectoral Building, we celebrate the end of this academic session:
In the next picture we have the received title, on the left in Latin, in the center in Icelandic and on the right in English … a nice touch!!!
Sergio celebrating with his Directors the finalization of his Ph.D. at night having dinner in Reykjavik.
At the end of the day we recover our suitcase which had been in London 🙂
