A «End of Master Work» focused mostly within the private sector

Today in the morning Miguel Cerrato Martín has obtained his new degree in the Master in Engineering in Telecommunication from the University of Extremadura. His «End of Master Work» (TFM, Trabajo Fin de Máster) is focused mainly on the enterprise level, which is titled «On-line Signature Verification System by HMM models».

The work was codirected by one side by a resposable within the company, José Luis Huertas Fernandez, CEO of Mobbeel Solutions SL and secondly by Pablo García Rodríguez, responsible for the academic part within the University.

Mobbeel Solutions S.L. was constituted by five youngest computer engineers with experience in the software development with two basic business lines:
• Mobbeel Technology, with the goal of to carry out the biometric to others companies.
• BioWallet, a biometrics application suite for finals users.

This work is part of the research department of Mobbeel and has the start in the period of teaching in «External Practices in Companies» of the Master of Engineering of Telecommunication. Mobbeel is one of the most active companies collaborating with the three master ICT (TIC, Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación) in the Polytechnic School in Cáceres (Extremadura University)

ABSTRACT:

The main subject of this «Master Final Work» is around to manuscript online signature. We have analyzed of an online signature verification system by HMM (Hidden Markov Models), which was providing for Mobbeel Solutions S.L. The main goal in this study is the influence of features like the pressure, angles azimuth and elevation, pre-filtering, centralize respect to the center of mass or minimal value and the numbers of signature for the enroll process. The motivation of this goal is the comparison among the verification system property of Mobbeel with others systems based on others algorithms.

Also we have created a new database in standard biometric format ISO/IEC FCD 19794-7 for online signatures. This database consists in two versions, one for captured signatures by Tablet PC and others captured by Smartphone. The differences between versions are the numbers of users. Tablet PC versions has 20 users and Smartphone versions has 9 users.

The conclusion of this work is the comparison between the system developed by Mobbeel, BioWallet, and the other system developed in parallel, based on DTW, with this. We obtain a performance of 2,2 % (average minor EER of two database) equal error rate for us system. This performance is a little bit better than the system based on DTW, this data is the very interesting for the company.
